Efficiency Exchange

As the public sector faces one of the biggest financial crisis in modern times, we have a real opportunity to deliver efficiency with innovation.  To do so, we need to bring together a range of professional skills across organisational boundaries.

This community is a place to find and share information about moving beyond cuts to delivering true value for money.  We will share resources, knowledge and support.

Facilitator message

We hope that you will enjoy the many opportunities to share issues and ideas with a wide network of like minded professionals, not just in the UK........Wayne Scheggia, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Western Australian Local Government Association, said of the Efficiency Exchange:

“It’s often said that nobody has a monopoly on good ideas. Given that’s the case, sharing them makes all the sense in the world. For all the differences that exist in our individual local situations, I think it’s amazing just how common many of the problems and challenges are that confront Local Governments and community organisations throughout the world. Having access to an international network of ideas brings an innovative solution so much closer to being realised.”

IDeA chairman councillor Ian Swithenbank explains: “I see the Efficiency Exchange as being a real help to councillors and the wider public sector - we can have real sector-led improvement  by harnessing the collective brain power of the whole local government community. Not only does the Exchange help me quickly understand what’s been tried elsewhere and what’s appropriate for any council in addressing the efficiency agenda, but it allows people to pose questions about problems they face and see if other councillors and officers can suggest solutions.”
